Der riesige Maimun-Palast und die achteckige Gro\u00dfe Moschee von Medan dominieren das Stadtzentrum und vereinen islamischen und europ\u00e4ischen Stil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Lage der Stadt macht sie zum wichtigsten Knotenpunkt des internationalen Handels in Westindonesien, mit Exporten nach Nordamerika, Europa und in den Nahen Osten. Nicht wenige internationale Unternehmen unterhalten Niederlassungen in Medan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Stadt verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber 72 registrierte Universit\u00e4ten, Fachhochschulen und Hochschulen und beherbergt 2,4 Millionen Menschen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die meisten Einwohner Medans sind Muslime und machen etwa 661 TP3T der Bev\u00f6lkerung aus. Die betr\u00e4chtliche christliche Bev\u00f6lkerungsgruppe (etwa 251 TP3T der Gesamtbev\u00f6lkerung) umfasst Katholiken, Methodisten, Lutheraner und die christlich-protestantische Kirche von Batak.
