Dengan populasi metropolitan 11 juta, ia adalah bandar ke-3 terbesar di India. Terletak pada ketinggian lebih 900 meter di atas paras laut, iklim ini adalah salah satu yang paling menyenangkan di negara ini, dan dengan banyak taman dan kawasan hijau, ia dikenali sebagai Garden City of India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bengaluru juga merupakan &quot;Lembah Silikon&quot; India, dengan penumpuan tertinggi syarikat IT di negara itu. Akibatnya, Bengaluru telah menarik sejumlah besar pendatang Eropah dan Asia. Walaupun bandar ini terutamanya Hindu, terdapat populasi Sikh dan Muslim yang ketara dan salah satu komuniti Kristian terbesar di negara ini. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nama bandar itu telah ditukar pada 2014 sebagai sebahagian daripada penamaan semula sebelas bandar di rantau ini, terutamanya untuk kembali kepada sebutan yang lebih setempat, dan bukannya kaedah British. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Komuniti Kristian Bengaluru kebanyakannya kelas pertengahan dan atasan pada masa lalu, tetapi kini ramai kasta rendah dan penduduk setinggan menjadi orang percaya, terutamanya melalui kementerian gereja karismatik.
